Thursday, April 3, 2008 031 - Club Foot Tonight I went to Club Foot to play records. I used to be there a good 3-4 nights a week and worked there for a few years even. Definitely always a home base. Tonight I busted out mostly metal, classic hardcore and mid-90s hardcore (think Revelation and Victory Records). I don't expect people to dig it. I'm not paid. I do it for my own amusement so its not uncommon to hear something like Buck Owens followed by Superchunk and Strife. Surprisingly I had a few people stoked on some of my jams. I left pleased! Labels: club foot, daily, hardcore

Strife - Through And Through
"There's only one truth". Towards the end of Strife's cycle as a band I saw them play and the singer openly announced that this song wasn't about straight edge but a love song. Whatever.... I would love to see this band another 94 times. This band makes me do the most air drumming ever! Endpoint Probably the most important hardcore band to ever come out of the midwest. By The Grace Of God I haven't listened to BTGOG in ages so watching this video brings a lot back. The breakdown in the middle where Pennington starts yelling "Are you a slave?" kills me. One of my favorite endings to a song ever. Snapcase - Steps One of my favorite Snapcase songs (bonus! filmed at the Fireside). I still think they're one of the most progressive hardcore bands ever. It tears me up that I can't see their reunion shows coming up. FIRESTORM I let the awesomeness speak for itself. The Refused Two words... MOTHER FUCK Undertow Check out the dude on stage who's just hanging out and gets thrown off at the end. "I just want you back!" This song fucking kills! Unbroken Labels: by the grace of god, earth crisis, endpoint, firestorm, hardcore, snapcase, strife, the refused, unbroken, undertow |
why "live in chicago"? Joan of Arc made a record called "Live in Chicago" and I thought was really good with good artwork and good songs. When I started doing this I had envisioned that it would be focused primarily on my home thus "Live in Chicago" became the title. I've always liked it because I've never known if it was "live" like "I live in Chicago" or "live" like "I saw that band live". I live in Chicago thus it's that "live in Chicago".
