Trip To My Parents House
Took a weekend trip to my parents house. The plan was pretty simple. Wii. Movie. Wii. Wii. Wii. Matilda and I did not have many goals. Really just to play the Wii. The movie was just a distraction so that we didn't feel like total dorks. At least that's how I looked at it. She probably just wanted to play the Wii.

We picked up a family member (Cole) and our first stop was to hit this burger place in my old home town that I loved when I was little. Absolutely letdown. I hate having these high expectations based on memories then going back years later and being completely bummed. The little ones seemed to enjoy it though.

When Cole saw me pull out my camera he immediately went straight to pulling his shirt out to show it off. He never referenced it, just pulled it forward and as soon as the picture was taken he carried on.

I really liked these signs. Unfortunately it was the best thing about being there.

Aight... So down to business. Wii. I asked them to give me a sweet pose and Cole was immediately into it. Matilda was not. Being so pre-teen she's not so easy to coerce into being goofy.

After Wii and after the movie we headed out to see my sisters husbands band play. He's my brother in-law, yes... I think that sounds weird to say. And since he saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night I think it's more fitting to say "my sisters husband" even though i wish i could tack on "best friends sisters boyfriend". I'm sure I butchered that. Anyways, Matilda was shy but enjoyed herself. I've taken her to many shows over the course of her life but this was the first time she's been to one and felt some sort of a connection (her uncle on stage) and even recognized some of the people in the audience.

And Sunday.. . ended with some pretty snow covering my parents yard.

why "live in chicago"?
Joan of Arc made a record called "Live in Chicago" and I thought was really good with good artwork and good songs. When I started doing this I had envisioned that it would be focused primarily on my home thus "Live in Chicago" became the title. I've always liked it because I've never known if it was "live" like "I live in Chicago" or "live" like "I saw that band live". I live in Chicago thus it's that "live in Chicago". Hi.
